The thing about the milk jug Tijntje is that the porcelain is partly mixed with clay from the river Maas. This gives the pottery a beautiful, speckled sand color. This clay comes from the village where Elke was born and grew up. Tijntje starts out very refined and thin, where she widens a bit towards the top. As a result, the jug fits easily in the hand to pour the milk. The clean lines of the design are also reflected in the pouring spout.
