We have all experienced heartbreaks, repressed memories and emotions or struggles in life that we are not yet at peace with. The Kintsugi heart is a ceramic heart with which you can create your own ritual to process this. It invites you to feel your pain (no matter how big or how small) and embrace it. Mend your heart with gold and see your cracks as something unique that adds to your beauty.
The earthenware heart is wrapped in the cloth (a bogche, the iranian furoshiki) break it with a stone or smash it against the wall. Collect the broken parts and write an event or something close to you on the inside of the shards. Repair the heart with gold as a symbol of healing.

Kintsugi is the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer sprinkled or mixed with powdered gold. The scars are believed to add to the beauty of the object, making it a unique work of art. This way of thinking has similarities with the Japanese Wabi Sabi philosophy of embracing the flawed or imperfect.
